I love the last two weeks of December because it gives me some time to reflect on what went well that year, and what could use improvement. I had quite a bit of time to think this year because I spent Christmas in bed with a double ear infection. (womp womp...)
Because of this, though, it gave me quite a bit of time to outline the year, and think about what would work well for 2018. I'll be honest that 2017 was one of the hardest, but best years of my life. The first six months of the year were extremely bumpy and had some serious curve balls. But the last half of the year meant a career change, a wedding, and a wonderful vacation. (Boston recap coming to the blog soon!)
My good friend Melissa always encourages me to pick a word of the year...and this year, I completely stole hers. (Sorry M!) It's consistency. I tried hard to pick another one, but it was just so accurate, that I couldn't help it. There are quite a few places that this will be necessary, but mostly for my two biggest goals - health & wealth.
This year, I decided to split up main goals by month because it helps me stay a bit more organized, and gives me the ability to put mini-goals into that month. Of course, this doesn't mean I'm going to completely neglect all the other items, but my mini-goals will be organized into these months. Additionally, the list isn't in order of importance; it was how I was feeling at the time as well as what makes sense during the year. For example, our anniversary is in October which is why love is a priority in that month, but that doesn't mean it's not ALWAYS a priority.
January: Health as a priority
February: Wealth as a priority
March: Self-love as a priority
April: Beauty as a priority
May: Accept others as they are as a priority
June: Get outside as a priority
July: Friendships as a priority
August: Home as a priority
September: Give back as a priority
October: Romance as a priority
November: Gratitude as a priority
December: Family as a priority
As you might have noticed, I didn't put career in any of these months. After I created all of these, I realized it and it felt natural. For the past six years, my career has almost always been either #1 or #2, and while I certainly don't regret that, I'm looking forward to a year that has slightly different priorities. That being said, I feel like career will always be an on-going priority as it's just in my nature.
Lastly, a big goal for me this year is to complete the 2018 Book Riot Read Harder Challenge. I didn't complete it last year with a busy last few months, but participating in it is something I really enjoyed. Here is my 2018 list.
Tomorrow, I'll dive deeper into the mini-goals for January with a recap of how I did at the end of the month.
Do you like goal setting? I personally love it! Tell me in the comments below.
